Waywocket Caramint Dimblemottin Ellyglim Bandram of Tartheim
(aka Fred)
For such a small gnome, Fred can be a large package of trouble. Aside from her typically Gnomish love of practical jokes, Fred also has a warped sense of humour. She actually likes humans. Well, some of them, anyway.
And that's also her biggest problem. Fred isn't a blue-eyed, tow-headed small fry, like most of her kin. She's short, yes (and I dare you to say that to her face!), but she has dark hair. As Ulfred describes it, as dark as walnut. And her eyes are a strange shade of brown, neither quite brown nor quite red. More like the colour of sherry, or a fine old whiskey.
To her anger and disgust, humans tend to call her a half-halfling and gnomes, when they deign to talk to her, call her an Outlander. It's made her rather wary around strangers, but once she's proclaimed you friend, you are friends for life. Whether you want it or not.
Fred is fluent in Common, Gnomish, Dwarven, Elven, and Goblin. Despite having spent almost 35 years exclusively with Humans, she still retains the Gnomish grammar in her speech. It can be irritating and hard to understand, but when you consider that her formidable temper is usually displayed by her speaking proper and correct Common, it's probably for the best. If her temper is aroused, you can bet you'll be on the receiving end of a particularly nasty practical joke, find your gear in disarray or missing altogether, or, as a last resort, she will refuse to help you when you need it most. To date, only one person has ever gotten that reaction, and that's *another* story. ;)
How did she get the name "Fred"? It's a long story called "The Outlander Gift".
